For this extra project, I made a tall shadow green vacylinder (vase + cylinder). For this project, it was the first time I ever used shadow green, so I wanted to experiment with glazes, and I believe it payed off. I think the color of my project creates movement because of the way the shadow green drips down the project. I think this vacylinder has a very earthy theme because of how the green and the black look together.

For my unfinished second theme project, I made a lidded vase with a swan handle that I hope to glaze black with blue splatters. To make this project, I practiced another kind of lid that was set inside the vase so that it didn't touch the lip of the project, which looks elegant if I do say so myself. I used form and shape to create emphasis, because the swan on the lid of my vase draws the viewer's attention to the lid itself. The theme of my theme projects is "me" and my career thus far in ceramics class, because lidded projects are my favorite projects to make, and my theme project features my swan motif, which I'm happy returned because I had not used it much recently.
For my unfinished first theme project, I made a lidded vase with a swan handle that I hope to glaze blue with black splatters. In order to make this vase, I worked on making lidded projects in a new way, I wanted to overhang the lid more so it did fit, but also sat on the lid of my vase, and I think it turned out well. I used shape and form to create emphasis, because the swan on the lid of my vase draws the viewer's attention to the lid of my project. I hope to make my theme "me" because I think this project, and my other theme project really represent my favorite project to make (lidded) combined with my swan motif.
For my currently unfinished set of three, I made three vases that I plan to glaze with all black, with one stripe of white for the biggest, two stripes for the medium vase and so on. In order to make these vases, I had to work on forming them, because the smaller ones did not turn out quite as good as the largest one in terms of form. I am hoping to use color to create unity, because I want to use the varying stripes of white in order to make my projects fit into a set of three, since their forms are not the same. Hopefully my vases will have a deep sea theme, because of the varying degrees of blue and black.
For my currently unfinished hand and wheel project, I made a small vase with hearts on it that I hope to glaze blue with a black drip. In order to make this project, I had to practice using tools to make clay items, because I used a small, heart shaped cookie cutter in order to make the hearts on my vase. I hope to use color to create emphasis on my projects, because I plan to drip black glaze on the hearts in order to draw attention to them. I hope my project has a bit of a heartbreak theme, not because I am heartbroken or anything, but I didn't just want to do a lovey-dovey, basic theme.
For an extra project, I made a large, black vase with blue details. For this vase, I practiced making bigger projects, and pulling higher (which is really difficult I might add, I was sweating a lot). My vase uses color to create emphasis, because to be honest, it has a small dent in it, so I used the blue to try and highlight other parts of the vase. My vase has a very night sky feel because the blue looks like clouds against the night sky at dusk.
For my very tall project I made a burnt orange and blue pedestal bowl (birdbath). During this project I practiced my frankenpot skills because I had to attach two bowls together to make the project. My bowl uses color to create contrast because the orange makes the blue portion seem more pronounced. My project has a very desert oasis feel because of how the burnt orange and blue look together.
My second bowl is a large white and black bowl with a blue path down the middle. To make this bowl, I had to practice once again with using larger amounts of clay to make a project, which worked out much better on this bowl than the first bowl, since the second bowl is not as heavy. This bowl uses color to create movement, because the blue draws the viewers attention to the sides of the bowl. This bowl has a very wintery feel because of the cool color as well as the white and black.
My first bowl is a black, white, and blue patterned large bowl. To make this bowl, I had to practice using larger amounts of clay to make projects, which did not go great on this bowl as it is super heavy. This bowl uses color to create contrast, because the extremes of the white and black are separated by the blue. This bowl has a very winter feel because of the black, blue, and white.
Our frankenpot went missing in the Great Kiln Fire of '17, but here's what I have as proof that it once existed.
